Table Tennis ace visits Charles Read Academy

England’s number 1 table-tennis player, Kelly Sibley, visited Charles Read Academy earlier this term to deliver a series of elite coaching sessions.

Kelly worked with students from both the academy and local primary schools to inspire them to become the sport’s stars of the future.

Robert Sloan, Principal, said: “Our students love table-tennis. It has become part of the DNA of Charles Read, with many students playing during break and lunch.

“We have recently partnered with a local college to deliver a table-tennis programme that we hope will eventually attract the sport’s brightest young talent.”

Three students, who are currently taking part in the Grantham College Table Tennis Centre of Excellence, also had the opportunity to spend time with Kelly, finding out more about the keys to her success and accessing training tips.

Kelly Sibley said: “I had a great time at Charles Read. The talent and enthusiasm was hugely impressive.”
