Welcome to CRA Library 

Our library is fully stocked with a wide range of popular titles for readers of all abilities. We have everything: classics, science fiction, fantasy, history, graphic novels, YA novels- every genre and type of book you could want! KS3 students have the opportunity to visit the library weekly to change their reading book and all students have the ability to visit the library at selected lunch times.

Sparx Reader

 We have recently introduced the Sparx Reader programme to help us to support students in becoming strong independent readers.

Sparx Reader is an online system designed to help students develop their reading ability with a particular focus on reading comprehension. It is an adaptive system which presents material that is appropriate to the student's reading level, ensuring that all students are able to access the texts set and that they are reading texts that will help them improve their skills.  

Students are able to access the system through any device with internet access, e.g. a laptop, phone or tablet and will use their normal Sparx Maths login information.

Homework is set weekly on Sparx Reader for all year groups - running from Friday to Friday. Homework completion is measured on accumulation of SRP (Sparx Reader Points). Students are rewarded for reading carefully and answering questions correctly. Each week, they will need to achieve 300 SRP – which equates to roughly 30 minutes of careful reading.

This is an exciting step forward in the support that we give students to become stronger and more confident readers. With thousands of e-books available through the platform it is a wonderful opportunity for our students.
